Major IT Systems Upgrade - 24th - 28th September

In September, Islay Medical Services will be undergoing a long-awaited major IT systems upgrade to move onto a single server. This work will begin over the weekend of September 24th and we hope to be back to normal by the end of the following week.

During the upgrade we will have no access to clinical records. This means we will be unable to issue repeat prescriptions during the downtime. Please ensure you order your repeat prescription early if you will run out over these few days.

For Saturday 24th September, Sunday 25th September and the Monday Bank Holiday 26th September, should you require urgent medical attention, please use the usual weekend channels of NHS 24 or A&E if the problem requires immediate attention.

From Tuesday 27th September for the rest of the week, we will be offering urgent and emergency appointments only until we are sure the systems are back up and running safely. Any urgent prescriptions required from these appointments will be handwritten.

We anticipate being back to normal by the end of the week (30th September) at the latest. This systems upgrade is vital in allowing us to provide a safe and integrated service to all our patients – thank you for your patience while we implement this.
